Alan C. Levine Chief Information Officer

Alan C. Levine specializes in the application of technology to arts management, marketing and fund-raising. Throughout his career, he has worked with non-profit organizations of all sizes to develop innovative, strategic uses of information technology that have enabled organizations to achieve maximum effectiveness and stretch available resources. He serves as a leader, mentor, and educator.

At the Kennedy Center, Mr. Levine oversees all information technology, web and telecommunications operations. Under his direction, the Kennedy Center developed a unified information architecture and several innovative websites. Through the Kennedy Center Arts Management initiatives, He has taught the application of technology in arts organizations to arts managers around the world.

Mr. Levine is currently Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of the Tessitura Network, Inc. , which provides state-of-the-art software for customer relationship management, ticketing, and fundraising to performing arts organizations around the world. He is a past President of CIO/Arts, and a founding member of the worldwide CIO Executive Council. He also serves on the Small Agency CIO Council of the US Federal Government.

Prior to the Kennedy Center, Mr. Levine was the Director of Information Systems for McCarter Theatre Center for the Performing Arts in Princeton, NJ, where he was the driving force behind the creation of ArtsWeb, a collaborative consortium of 10 major performing arts institutions in New York and New Jersey. During his 9 year tenure, he led several successful collaborative projects researching the application of technology to arts marketing and fundraising,

ArtsWeb received a ComputerWorld Smithsonian Award, and materials documenting ArtsWeb have been preserved in the permanent archives of the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of American History. As part of this award, Mr. Levine was honored as a 1997 Innovator of Information Technology. He is also the recipient of an InfoWorld 100 Award.

Mr. Levine has served as a consultant to organizations around the country, and is regularly invited to lecture and participate on expert panels. He is also a theatrical Lighting Designer, having designed over 100 theatrical productions and corporate, political, and private events.

Mr. Levine studied electrical engineering at the New Jersey Institute of Technology, and is a graduate of the Carnegie Mellon University, Heinz School of Public Policy CIO Institute.
